Thermal Transfer Paper Labels for the iDPRT iE2X
The thermal transfer paper labels in this category have been selected for use with the iDPRT iE2X label printer when operating in thermal transfer mode.
All compatible rolls have an overall media width between 20mm and 60mm, a 25mm (1") core and a maximum outside diameter of 127mm (5"). The maximum media width for this category is 60mm.
About Thermal Transfer Paper Labels
Thermal transfer paper labels are printed using a thermal transfer ribbon. Heat from the printer’s printhead transfers ink from the ribbon onto the label surface, creating clear text, graphics, barcodes and QR codes.
These labels are not heat-sensitive and cannot be printed correctly without a ribbon. Compared with direct thermal labels, thermal transfer printing generally produces a longer-lasting image that offers better resistance to rubbing, handling and environmental exposure.
Thermal transfer paper labels are an economical choice when durable printing is required but a polypropylene, polyester or other synthetic label is unnecessary.
Compatible Label-Roll Dimensions
Labels in this category are selected according to the following requirements:
- Printing method: thermal transfer
- Label material: paper
- Maximum print width: 54mm
- Overall media width: 20mm to 60mm
- Roll core diameter: 25mm (1")
- Maximum outside roll diameter: 127mm (5")
- Thermal transfer ribbon required: yes
The overall media width includes both the label and its backing paper. As the backing paper is normally slightly wider than the label itself, customers should check the complete media width rather than measuring only the label.
The printed design must remain within the printer’s maximum printable width of 54mm.
Applications
Depending on the paper and adhesive selected, these labels can be used for:
- Product and packaging labels
- Barcode and QR-code labels
- Stock and inventory identification
- Retail and price labels
- Batch and date-code labels
- Warehouse identification
- Jewellery and small-item labels
- Laboratory and sample labels
- Office and general-purpose identification
Selecting a Thermal Transfer Ribbon
A compatible thermal transfer ribbon must be installed when printing these labels.
Wax ribbons are commonly used with standard thermal transfer paper labels and provide reliable print quality for general barcode, retail, product and warehouse applications.
Wax-resin ribbons may be more suitable for coated paper or applications requiring improved resistance to rubbing, moisture and frequent handling.
The ribbon should be compatible with the label’s surface and slightly wider than the label. This helps ensure complete print coverage and protects the printhead from contact with the backing paper.
Choosing the Correct Labels
Before ordering, check the label width, label length and overall width of the backing paper. The complete media width must be between 20mm and 60mm, while the printed design must not exceed 54mm.
The roll must have a 25mm core and must not exceed 127mm in outside diameter.
