Labels for iDPRT iF4 and iT4 Printers

The labels in this category have been selected for use with iDPRT iF4 and iT4 label printers. The range includes direct thermal paper labels, thermal transfer paper labels and synthetic thermal transfer labels for more demanding applications.

Compatible rolls have a maximum outside diameter of 127mm (5"). The maximum media width for this category is 118mm.

Compatible Label-Roll Dimensions

Labels suitable for these printers should meet the following requirements:

  • Printing method: direct thermal or thermal transfer
  • Maximum print width at 203dpi: 108mm
  • Maximum print width for most 300dpi iT4 models: 106mm
  • Overall media width: 25mm to 118mm
  • Maximum outside roll diameter: 127mm (5")
  • iF4 label core diameter: 12.5mm (½") or 25mm (1")
  • iT4 label core diameter: 12.5mm (½"), 25mm (1") or 38mm (1½")

The overall media width includes both the label and its backing paper. Because the backing paper is normally slightly wider than the label itself, customers should check the complete media width rather than measuring only the face of the label.

Although the printers accept media up to 118mm wide, the printed design must remain within the maximum printable width of the particular printer and resolution.

Direct Thermal Labels

When operating in direct thermal mode, the iF4 and iT4 can print onto heat-sensitive labels without requiring ink, toner or a thermal transfer ribbon.

Direct thermal labels are suitable for short- to medium-term applications including:

Thermal transfer paper labels require a compatible printer ribbon. Heat from the printhead transfers ink from the ribbon onto the label surface, producing a more durable and longer-lasting printed image than standard direct thermal printing.

These labels are suitable for:

Depending on the material, adhesive and ribbon selected, synthetic labels can offer improved resistance to moisture, tearing, abrasion, oils, chemicals and temperature changes.

Choosing the Correct Core Size

Labels on 12.5mm and 25mm cores can be selected for both the iF4 and iT4, provided the roll’s other dimensions are compatible.

Labels on 38mm cores should only be selected for compatible iT4 models. The iF4’s standard media specification does not include a 38mm label core.

Before ordering, check the exact printer model, label width, backing-paper width, core diameter and outside roll diameter.

Selecting the Correct Label Type

Choose direct thermal labels when you require economical, ribbon-free printing for shipping or other relatively short-term uses.

Choose thermal transfer paper labels when the printed information needs to remain readable for longer or withstand additional handling.

For applications involving water, abrasion, oils, chemicals or outdoor exposure, a synthetic thermal transfer label may be the most appropriate option.
