In the world of Citizen printing, these terms are often used interchangeably to describe the standard resolution (8 dots per mm). For example, the JM14705-0 is the correct replacement for all standard CL-S621 and CL-S521 models.

Can I use a 300dpi head in a 203dpi printer?

No. Resolution is determined by the printer's internal firmware and electronics. To upgrade from 203dpi to 300dpi (e.g., from a CL-S700 to a CL-S703), you would typically need a resolution conversion kit or a different printer model.
